Keto Tzatziki goes pink – colourful Greek inspiration

Keto Tzatziki dip was ketonised on our website sometimes in the spring last year. If you search the internet, you will find that almost every Keto website has their version. When it comes to our version, it’s as original as it can be! Actually, we make it in Greece every summer! Many ketonians loved it and they sent us the photos and feedback. This famous Greek dip is Low-Carb friendly on its own, but if you want it really to lean on the Keto side, you’ll make a small twist. Interestingly, this twist is changing nothing in taste, as long as you stick to the original philosophy.

Greek yoghurt and what it really means

Traditional Greek yoghurt is made of sheep or goat milk and this tradition dates back in time when cows were extremely rare in Greece. In fact, Greek Feta cheese is also made of these two types of milk that have nutritional advantages and healing properties. If you want your Keto Tzatziki to stay healthy, don’t reach for the cow’s milk yoghurt. Not only because of the tradition, but also for the carb content (lactose), casein and fat content. A nice fatty sheep yoghurt tastes divine! Literally, it screams KETO on its own. Now, we know that not everybody who reads Greek Goes Keto lives in Europe where goat and sheep yoghurts are really easy to find. In that case, don’t go for yoghurt at all. Good old sour cream (fermented, cultured) will be an ideal substitute for Keto Tzatziki.

Colourful summer Keto Tzatziki twist

The most famous Greek dip (Tzatziki) served as inspiration here, but we simply wanted to give it a twist. Not only with colour, but also with additional creamy and nutritious feeling. The advantage of these types of dips is in the ease of preparation. Furthermore, you can keep them in the refrigerator, well sealed, for almost a week! Just a small amount will refresh any meat or fish dish, it can go well with a salad, or as a spread on keto bread. Variations are numerous! Why did we decide to make it pink? We believe that summer calls for pastel colours which always bring energy and refreshment on your plate!

Keto lifestyle includes more inspiring activities.   It’s not all about buying Keto friendly ingredients, counting macros and following Keto celebs on social media. 😉

Did you ever think about the colour of the food we consume? For example, colourful dishes are our passion! Maybe you have noticed how everything on Greek Goes Keto is intensive in colour! Well, colours are Roberta’s profession, and she has been studying this for so many years now. I was intrigued by the study conducted on the influence of colour on our appetite.

  • 45 g (1,5 oz) Feta cheese
  • 200 g (7 oz) Greek yoghurt (goat or sheep) alternatively use sour cream)
  • 100 g (3.5 oz) cucumber grated, without seeds
  • 4-5 cloves fresh garlic
  • 20 g (0,7 oz) Raspberries fresh or frozen
  • 2/3 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill finely chopped
  • 4 tbsp olive oil extra virgin
  • 2/3 tsp red paprika powder mild
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice or white vinegar

  • Remove the seeds from cucumber, peel and grate it. Place it in a metallic strainer and add a pinch of sea salt. Leave it in the refrigerator for 5 minutes so that the excess liquid drips in a bowl.
  • Place Greek yoghurt (or sour cream), feta cheese, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, lemon juice, spices (everything except dill) and raspberries in a food processor. Pulse until it all unifies. If you want a creamier consistency, pulse a bit longer.

  • Chill for at least an hour before serving. Just before serving, decorate with additional 2 tablespoons of olive oil and sprinkle with freshly chopped dill.
  •  If you want to keep the dip for several days in the refrigerator, place it in a glass jar with a lid.
